4 Tips For Holiday Deep Cleaning

Let’s be honest. Your kitchen just got more face time than it has all year and it’s not the sparkling, lemony-fresh chef house it was a few weeks ago. Having guests over for the holidays can really take a toll on your home, and wiping down the counters or sweeping isn’t always enough. You spend the most time in your home, so it deserves a deep clean for the New Year. Check out these 4 tips for giving your home a deep cleanse:

Give Your Sink A Cleanse

As one of the dirtiest areas in the home, it’s a must that you properly clean it and not just wipe it down. We recommend pouring one cup of baking soda and two cups of vinegar down your drain. Let the mixture work it’s magic for a few minutes and then pour boiling water to rinse the formula from the drain. This will keep it clog-free and rinse any residue producing odor. Add orange peels to the garbage disposal while running the water to create a citrus aroma.

Iron Out Carpet Stains

All you need is a clothing iron, water, vinegar and a cloth or rag. Directly on the carpet, spray your stain with a mixture of one part vinegar and two parts water. Set your iron to ‘steam’ mode and place a wet rag over the stain. Iron on top of the rag for 30 seconds, or whatever is needed to fully remove it.

Revamp the Entryway

With all your guests hurrying in to put their coats away, dragging in muddy snow and eager for a cocktail, the baseboards can really take a hit. The fine details like this really make a difference when deep cleaning your home. We recommend using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, but a rag or sponge dipped in soapy water will work as well.  Use either option to scrub the baseboards and buffer out any scuffs. Perfect your work by polishing them with a dryer sheet to repel any dust.

Scrub the Cabinets

Give your kitchen new life with this easy fix. Take a soft bristled dish brush and soap and lightly scrub in circular motions to get rid of any oil residue, food stains or fingerprints.
