Cleaning Myths

Kate’s Cleaning is here for all your cleaning needs here in Chicago. Whether it is a weekly cleanup or a daily cleaning service we are here to fulfill all your cleaning needs. Here at Kate’s Cleaning we pride ourselves for our excellent cleaning skills and knowledge of what something takes to get clean. Below are 5 myths many people believe when cleaning:

1. Something will smell “clean” when it is clean

The truth is that when something is clean, it shouldn’t smell at all! Some things may masque the scent with a perfume, etc.

2. Bleach is the best cleaner

Not only has bleach been linked to an increase in infection in kids, but bleach is not great for cleaning everything in your home. Many people think they should use bleach to disinfect and to clean away all germs, but instead it is recommended to use 100% white vinegar. White vinegar is not caustic and will not damage anything such as skin, or clothes if it touches it

3.Use different cleaning products to clean different things

The reality is you really only need a handful of products to clean everything in your home. There is no point in spending hundreds of dollars on cleaners when most of them do the exact same things!

4.Use paper towels for cleaning

Paper towels may be great for cleaning up quick spills, but not for real cleaning. Using paper towels is a complete waste and can be VERY expensive. Instead, use cleaning rags for your cleaning. Not only is it more environmentally friendly, but it will save you a ton of money!

5.Immediately wipe surfaces clean after spraying down

Reality is you don’t need to wipe the surface down immediately, but wipe it down before it dries. Sometimes you may need to let the product sit for a couple of minutes before wiping it down to ensure you are cleaning up the mess completely.
