The holidays are fast approaching and that means out-of-town guests will be here before you know it! We’ve put together a few tips on preparing your home for guests.
1. Deep Clean Your Home
In our everyday life, it’s not always practical or possible to deep clean our homes frequently. It is, however, recommended that you deep clean your home at least 3 times a year to eliminate dust, allergens, and mold that can build up over time.
2. Stock Your Fridge
Certain guests have dietary restrictions (or preferences), so making sure your fridge is stocked with food meets their dietary needs is a nice way to welcome them into your home. If you aren’t sure what your guests like, just ask! Food is one of the topics that people love to discuss. Staples like eggs, rice, salad fixings, and plant or animal based proteins suit most people’s general diets.
3. Evaluate Your Linens and Toiletries
Make sure you have two clean bath towels, hand towels, and wash towels per guest in your bathroom. A cozy, fluffy robe is a welcoming touch that will make your guests feel like they are staying in a luxury hotel. Also make sure you have new toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, and soap on hand in case your guests have forgotten any of their essentials.
4. Set Up Your Guest Room
Make sure your guest room (or whatever area your guests will be sleeping) has clean linens and extra blankets that have been freshly washed. In the colder months, area rugs or floor mats are an easy way to make a room feel more inviting. Be sure to clear away any debris lying around on the floor or hidden away in closets or drawers so your guests will have room for their clothes.
