Vacuum Cleaner Buying Guide

A necessary household chore, vacuuming ranks right up there with getting a root canal on the enjoyment scale. It stands to reason, then, that we would want to be over and done with as expeditiously as possible. The only way to do that is to purchase a great vacuum cleaner that can do the job in a single pass. Here’s what to look for.

Power

As a general rule, the cheaper the vacuum cleaner, the less suction it will have. This deficiency often means that you will have to go over the same spot several times to get it completely clean.  A powerful model, on the other hand, will suck up dust, dirt, and debris all at once.

Style

Most new models capture and store waste in canisters instead of bags. On average, these devices are cleaner and more powerful than those that rely on bags.

Special features

From attachments to accessories, few household appliances have more special features than the vacuum cleaner. Probably the most popular option in modern devices is the cordless feature. Although not as powerful as traditional models, cordless versions are far more convenient and can help reduce vacuuming time significantly.
